I watched the last Indiana Senate debate. Libertarian Andrew Horning asked for our vote to "send a message," and he promised that he "wouldn't be able to do much." I, for one, am hoping for some productivity from my representative.
But the most frightening statement of the night came from Republican Richard Mourdock. While sharing his abortion views, Mourdock stated that if a woman gets pregnant from rape, that is "part of God's plan."
How can anyone support a man, or a God, whose "plan" would include forced rape and childbirth? However, it dovetails perfectly with the Republican mindset.
They alarm at the thought of Sharia law, but would subject us all to their twisted vision of Christian law. In either case, women are cast aside as being somehow lesser.
We must all stand at the voting booth and send the clear message that they are not.
