Why would any American want to kill unions?

There have been calls to eliminate unions by average Americans. I find that deeply disturbing. I’ve never worked for a union, but I’m intelligent enough to know that without unions, I would have never had vacations or any kind of benefits at all.

Do you really want to go back 100 years and work 16-hour days six days a week, and if you get sick and are gone more than a day you lose your job?

No sick pay, no health insurance on minimum wage? No pension, no vacation, no nothing. Just work. Your kids would be made to work too. They would get offered a job if they work two weeks for free ... then they're fired and the next group follows.

Think I'm making this up? Read "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair, who wrote about real life in America, before unions. Then tell us how you feel.
