My father was a recent participant in the Honor Flight program in Washington D.C. It is hard to imagine, since the World War II Memorial is an open-air monument, why that would have been closed except as a way for the Obama administration to irritate as many people as possible during the shutdown.

I've been to Normandy, by the way, and the same can be said for that site.

All the people in your news stories who were inconvenienced were visiting tourist attractions. If the $16 trillion in debt already racked up doesn't get the public's attention and force the parties to work together to reform entitlements and taxes, maybe inconveniencing the public at their national parks will.

At least we are getting a glimpse of the vast amounts of government spending we can live without.
