I continue to be baffled by the conservative objection to Obamacare. In fact, the same program was invented by a Republican think tank in Massachusetts. It was championed by then-Gov. Mitt Romney. The health care program was implemented and is a successful program for responding to the suffering of poor people.
More than 85 percent of bankruptcies are caused by the lack of health care insurance. A person's life savings are taken by a hospital or doctor for an unanticipated disease or accident happening to themselves or their children.
A person with health insurance becomes a better person and goes to a doctor's office, not the emergency room. As we help people gain health insurance we will be better ourselves as we reach out to others in need.
Obamacare, the Massachusetts health care plan, might not be perfect, but it goes a long way to help others. We should support it, not demonize it.
