What makes Congressman Mark Kirk so special?

Was it just me or were other people disgusted with the news media report on Mark Kirk's return to Congress? Now granted all I know about him is he was elected to Congress as a Republican.

His first speech I heard was about how the American people have got to understand the millionaires of this country are hurting too. The news report of his progress from a stroke showed all the rehab he went through and his determination to walk up those 47 stairs to Congress and wanting to be the poster child for people with strokes.

I was waiting to hear the "Eye of the Tiger" music from one of the Rocky movies. The problem I have with this was at the end of the section, the reporter stated most people wouldn't be entitled to all that rehab. My question is why is it a fireman, carpenter, police officer, steel worker, cab driver or whoever can't get this type of rehab. To make matters worse, he's shown walking up the stairs with cheering congressmen at the end of the program. As the camera panned the area, we got a glimpse of Tammy Duckworth negotiating the same stairs with her fake spring steel legs that she lost fighting for this country. So the question is what makes him so special?
