Combat veterans present an interesting challenge in a criminal justice system whose goal is to rehabilitate the offender so they do not return to the system. The challenge is the rehabilitation part of the equation.

The VA specializes in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder for a reason, because it is an area of psychological health which requires expertise and specialization.

I believe that to better facilitate the desired end state of rehabilitation as opposed to recidivism, there needs to be a veterans court in Lake County to work hand in hand with the VA and other resources to guide those who need treatment to the right places.
