I tried to go golfing at Wicker Park. I arrived at 5:10 p.m. with my sons, one of whom has a hard time walking. The township worker, Mike, told us we could not rent a cart after 5; the carts were put away and it would be too much trouble to bring one out.
We told him we didn't care if we got in nine holes. He said it didn't matter, rules were rules. I asked him where these rules were posted. He said it was always his rule and there was no way he would change it.
With more than two and a half hours of daylight left, it is too much trouble to rent a cart to a taxpayer who can only play with a cart? Considering that Wicker can use every dollar it can get, how can this be? Many people don't even get off work until five.
If North Township Trustee Frank Mrvan's policy is to turn down money because it involves inconvenience for his workers then at least post that rule so people can give their money to another course.
