It’s late Sunday afternoon and your child is injured. A quick decision is needed: Where to take him?

Fortunately there’s top-notch urgent care close to home – Franciscan Hammond Clinic. Located on Calumet Avenue two blocks south of 80/94 in Munster, the Franciscan Hammond Clinic Urgent Care is the community’s first choice in urgent care.

“At Franciscan Hammond Clinic we pride ourselves on accessibility and the highest quality care,” says Dr. Joselito Navarro. “We are open 365 days a year, with urgent care staffed by at least three certified health care practitioners at any given time.” That means waiting time is seldom more than 20 minutes.

And the clinic has a pediatrician available after hours, “a unique feature that people really appreciate.”

Franciscan Hammond Clinic is equipped for procedures like fracture care, laceration care, IV antibiotics and IV fluid replacement. And the laboratory is staffed, so that patients can get their test results right away. “Even on the weekend, our radiologist is on call providing quick turn around on the results of Imaging tests such as X-Rays, ultrasound and CT scans. That’s very helpful, especially with something like a fracture, and with children, whose injuries can be harder to diagnose because their bones are immature,” says Navarro.

The urgent care clinic’s network of physicians means patients who are referred to a specialist don’t have to try to find one on their own; the clinic physician will do that for them. And, “Sometimes a patient won’t have a family physician and will ask, ‘Can you suggest someone?’ We’re happy to do that.”

Franciscan Hammond Clinic has a fully functional electronic medical records system. “That’s a big plus for both physician and patient,” says Navarro, since doctor visits and medications can be seen at a glance. Navarro gives the example of a patient who says he “feels kind of weak” and wonders if he’s anemic.

“We can look at the record and say, ‘Yes you are anemic; are you taking the iron pills you were told to take?’ and the patient tells us he had forgotten about that. We also find that some of our elderly patients are still taking a medication they were supposed to stop taking.”

Patients also appreciate that the clinic will contact a pharmacy directly for a prescription, making it convenient, safer, and faster.

“The reason we’re able to have all this – and much less expensive than an emergency room – is that we’re supported by a larger organization – Franciscan Alliance health care,” says Navarro.

Easy access, quality care, and economy make Franciscan Hammond Clinic the best choice for urgent care because “It’s the best of everything.”
