It may seem daunting, but making gifts with your kids can be easy, and it’s a great way to spend time together that’s also productive—a must during the busy holidays.

Not only are these adorable projects simple and fun to create, they’re also perfect for anyone on your list:

Reindeer Root Beer

6-pack bottles of root beer

Red pom-poms

Googly eyes

Brown pipe cleaners

Hot glue gun and glue (As an alternative, you may want to use clear craft glue dots. They are super sticky and great for kids to use. Find them at your favorite craft supply location.)

Take bottles out of pack. Twist one pipe cleaner around each top, under the cap and bend pipe cleaners in desired direction to look like antlers. Place three dots of hot glue or three glue dots where you’d like the eyes and nose and press. Return bottles to carton and—you’re done!

The great thing about making Reindeer Root Beer, besides its simplicity, is that crafty people may already have these supplies on hand!

Snowman Candle

1 white candle in a glass jar; any size will work

1 small bottle orange puff paint

1 small bottle black paint

Small paint brush

Ribbon of your choice, ½-inch wide (length will depend on size of candle)

Googly eyes

Brown pipe cleaners

Hot glue gun and glue, or clear craft glue dots.

Place a dot of glue where you’d like the eyes to be. Press eyes into place. Cut ribbon to length of your choice; place glue around the candle and position scarf into place. (You can also cut into the ends of the ribbon to make it look fringed.)

Next, form pipe cleaner into arms and glue into place. For the nose, squeeze orange puff paint in a long wedge and fill in. Last, dip end of paint brush into black paint and dot on for coal smile. Allow to dry 1 to 2 hours.

Tip: You can also use a semi-sharpened pencil instead of a paint brush to make the coal smile.

Hot Chocolate Joy

1 mason jar, with or without handle

1 box hot chocolate mix

1 bag miniature marshmallows

1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips or Hershey Kisses

1 bag of peppermint Starlight mints or candy canes (crushed into large chunks)

Holiday ribbon of your choice (about ½-inch width)

Holiday name tags

Hot glue gun and glue, or clear craft glue dots.

Wash mason jar and dry thoroughly. Pour 4 to 6 packages of hot chocolate mix into bottom of jar (quantity will depend on size of jar). Next, pour in ½ to 1 cup of marshmallows. Layer with Hershey Kisses and top off with mints.

Place the lid on and secure. Cut ribbon, length of choice, place glue around lid and press ribbon into place. Add name tag. You can also cut name tags out to decorate the top of the lid.

Tip: To change up the flavor, substitute semi-sweet chocolate with white chocolate, mint chocolate, caramel kisses or a raspberry dark chocolate bar.
