10 infected with measles in central Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS | Ten central Indiana children and adults are infected with measles, including one who visited Indianapolis' Super Bowl Village on Feb. 3, the Indiana State Department of Health confirmed Monday.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus. It is rare because most Americans are vaccinated against it.
Symptoms include a fever of up to 105 degrees, cough, runny nose and red eyes about seven to 10 days after exposure, followed by a rash on the face and neck that spreads to the back, arms and legs.
An infected person should stay away from others, especially the unvaccinated, and contact a doctor.
