INDIANAPOLIS | Getting around the Indiana State Fair this year could be as easy as glancing at the palm of your hand.

A new, free application for iPhone and Android users lists and displays seemingly everything a Hoosier would want to know about the 140 food stands, dozens of exhibition buildings, rides, animals, parking, ATMs, events and concerts happening at the fair over 17 days starting Aug. 2.

Users can even buy discount admission tickets with just a few touches on their phones.

"The idea is to give our visitors all the information they need in the most convenient way possible," said Andy Klotz, fair spokesman. "This new app will help people pre-plan their day at the fair and then help them find their way into and around the fair quite easily."

Year of Popcorn is the theme of the 2013 fair. The world's largest popcorn ball -- weighing 5,200 pounds -- is set to be unveiled Aug. 3.

The state fair grounds are located on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
