Franciscan Medical Specialists, known for its consistently superior delivery of patient services including programs, treatments and surgeries, is now under the umbrella of Franciscan Alliance healthcare system. They now work in conjunction with Franciscan Hammond Clinic, a similar organization with a 50-plus year history that also delivers premier primary and specialty medical care.

“Our new partnership is working together to provide more comprehensive care, offering our patients more specialties and more services,” says Liza Sargent, marketing coordinator. “We’re bringing all our strengths together to offer more convenience than ever for our valued patients.”

Just a few of those specialties include audiology, cardiology, family practice, obstetrics/gynecology, endocrinology, physical therapy and more. “We consistently offer the highest quality patient care by offering exceptional and innovative health programs and services here in northwest Indiana,” says Sargent.

Below are some of the unique Franciscan Hammond Clinic and Franciscan Medical Specialists programs:

Franciscan Skin Cancer Care Center, a department of Franciscan Healthcare – Munster in Dyer, Ind., is a new outpatient skin cancer surgery center that offers the latest in technologies and techniques. Their highly skilled surgeon utilizes MOHS Micrographic Surgery for removing basal and squamous cell cancers. MOHS has been shown to be the most effective way to completely remove skin cancer while minimizing damage to healthy surrounding tissue. With cure rates at an unmatched 98 percent or higher, their patients see significantly better results with MOHS than with any other accepted method.

At the Franciscan Hammond Clinic Urgent Care Center in Munster, Ind., residents needing prompt attention for non-life-threatening illness receive quality care. The urgent care facility provides walk-in medical care and treatment of minor medical emergencies for a wide range of illnesses and injuries 365 days a year and maintains evening hours.

Franciscan Hammond Clinic also offers Nurse On-Call, a free after-hours phone service staffed 365 days a year and exclusive to Franciscan Hammond Clinic patients. A registered nurse with access to patients’ medical records can guide ill patients during the evening and help them make effective and appropriate healthcare decisions.

Another innovative program is Franciscan Medical Specialists’ M3+ program, an innovative disease management membership program for patients with diabetes or those who have difficulty maintaining glycemic control. M3+ members have direct access to a Health Care Coordinator for questions and concerns, access to advanced diabetes education classes, an interactive “members only” web site, and better access to diabetic medications and supplies.
