One of the healthiest foods that we can put into our bodies is the sprouted grass—and its juice—raised from the simple wheat berry. Like the air that we breathe, wheat is everywhere. Did you have a bagel, pancakes, French toast, waffles or Wheaties cereal this morning? Then you have wheat coursing through your digestive tract, bringing with it protein, carbohydrates and valuable elements such as iron. While persons suffering from celiac disease and wheat allergies have sensitivities to the gluten found in wheat products, they may indulge in the consumption of spouted wheat grass and its health-boosting juice without concern.

What does it do?

Many animals possess blood (hemoglobin) tasked with carrying solid, liquid and gaseous nutrients to every cell in their bodies. Plants have green “blood” (chlorophyll) that essentially performs the same vital function. Interestingly, the basic molecular structures of animal and plant “blood” are identical with the single exception being that the central binding atom is iron for animals (providing the color red) and magnesium for plants (giving the green hue). The sprouted grass from the wheat berry is rich in vitamins A, B and E, and it provides the minerals calcium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc. All eight essential amino acids are found in wheat grass, making it is a source of complete protein. Wheat grass juice helps remove heavy metals like lead, mercury and aluminum from the body. This vital liquid also helps us fight infection.

About the herb

Wheat is a cereal grain grown on more land worldwide than any other commercial food. Native to the Near East and the Ethiopian Highlands, wheat has long been a staple of many societies ranging from ancient empires to modern nations. Its straw has been used as thatch for roofing, and its grains have the capacity for long-term storage, assuring a food supply during hard times. Recently, Dutch farms have been the most productive worldwide.

Recommended dosage

Like other sprouts, wheat is one of the easiest do-it-yourself foods that you can muster. Sprouts are the freshest foods on Earth because they are still alive and growing as they are being consumed. As such, the nutritional profile is at its highest possible level compared to “prepared” foods using the same plant. Wheat grass juice is very cleansing, and a small glass consumed daily increases vitality and enhances the immune system. Using a special wheat grass juice extractor results in the maximum amount of juice obtained from the sprouted grasses.
