EAST CHICAGO | St. Catherine Hospital is expanding its behavioral health services at its East Chicago campus and a new Schererville location, set to open in early 2013.
Dr. Glen Wurglitz, director of behavioral health services at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, said the expanded care will provide comprehensive outpatient mental health care to the broader community.
The Schererville facility, which will be on U.S. 30, will offer individual, group and family psychotherapy among other treatments.
Setting the building on a busy Schererville corridor gives it a central location in relation to other facilities in the Community Healthcare System — The Community Hospital in Munster, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Wurglitz said.
The internal expansion of the behavioral health services department at St. Catherine Hospital will bring a state-of-the-art care center to patients, he said.
The hospital, 4321 Fir St., offers bilingual services in its inpatient behavioral health treatment center. Staff include psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, recreational therapists, occupation therapists, mental health workers and chaplains, according to the hospital.
