Tamela Douglas-Bland said she plans to use skim milk instead of condensed milk in her mashed potatoes from now on. Clifford Williams said he’s going to start cooking with less fats and oils. Laveta Richardson said it's a life-saver - an innovative South Side shopping program focused on nutritious eating.

In an effort to fight diabetes and promote healthier living, the University of Chicago Hospitals partnered with Save-A-Lot grocery stores to host their “Shop Right, Save-A-Lot, and Be Healthy Grocery Store Tour.” Led by registered dieticians such as Marla Solomon, the informative tours teach participants how to shop and eat healthy, even on a budget. The free tours kick off on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m. at selected Save-A-Lot locations, but an RSVP is required. All are welcome to attend.
