Holland, MI – This Saturday at the Holland Farmers Market Chef Series, Chef Len Towne from New Holland Brewing Co. will demonstrate how to prepare dishes that incorporate a special secret ingredient…beer! Beginning at 10:00 am on July 13, Towne will spruce up fresh Market ingredients by using New Holland Brewing Co’s very own unique beers and artisan spirits. The Chef Series is proudly sponsored by Local First.

Towne received a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Restaurant Management degree from the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. He has worked for some of the finest five-star resorts and Fortune 500 companies around the world, and currently holds the position of Executive Chef p at New Holland Brewing Co. in Downtown Holland. New Holland Brewing Co brews and distills at two locations in Holland: their production facility on the north side and their pub and restaurant downtown. The restaurant is open seven days a week and production tours are given on Saturday afternoons.

The Chef Series is held at 10:00 am every Saturday morning at the Holland Farmers Market from May 18 to September 14 and is free to attend. Local First is the exclusive sponsor of the 2013 Chef Series. Local First fosters the development of an economy, grounded in local ownership, which functions in harmony with our ecosystem, meets the basic needs of our people, encourages joyful community life, and builds wealth. The Chef Series is also supported by in-kind donations from Visser Farms, a family farm in Zeeland that has been in business since 1902.

The Holland Farmers Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 am from late-May through mid-December, rain or shine. Be sure to shop early for the best selection! The City of Holland’s Department of Leisure and Cultural Services hosts the Market at the Eighth Street Market Place (150 West Eighth Street) in Downtown Holland.
