Linda Henderson of the New Buffalo Times reported this week that Casey's Bar and Grill closed Saturday December 29th for good. The closing came after a dispute between business partners resulted in an eviction notice for the restaurant and bar from the Chicago owners of the property on Whittaker Street. The only public comment came from ousted Casey's co-owner Tom Jennings who said he had invested 12 years in the business and was “highly disappointed.”

And New Buffalo's Stray Dog owner Marc Danesi has kept in touch with the popular restaurant's fans and friends on Facebook and promises to rebuild and re-open by early summer of this year. The fire that started around 9 pm on Tuesday, July 17th, 2012, burned the eatery to the ground by the time it was extinquished after 5 am the following morning. Days later Danesi promised to re-build saying, “We're going to need lots of dog pictures again! Send unframed photos of your stray dog to us to hang.”
