About Mark Steuer:

Chef Mark Steuer is the Lowcountry’s culinary ambassador to Chicago. As a Charleston native and Chicago chef, Steuer focuses on bringing fresh updates to the recipes and ingredients of the South Carolina coast. It’s Southern soul-elevated for the modern palate.

Carriage House earned a four star review from Time Out Chicago and has been featured in The National Culinary Review. Carriage House’s Carolina Gold Rice Balls with pimento cheese were featured in Eater National for Pimento Cheese Awareness Month in November 2012. The restaurant also won Eater’s Chicago award in the “So Hot Right Now” category. Chicago Reader said, “Steuer, in terms of street cred, actually comes from Charleston and ostensibly grew up eating and cooking this food. He isn’t just latching onto the flavor of the day, nor is he stuck in a joyless marriage to the past. It should be fun to watch him take things forward.”

Carriage House is located at 1700 W. Division Ave. in Chicago and is open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday, 5 p.m. to late, and for brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. For more information, visit
