The 2nd Annual Fashion on the Shore event brings emerging student designers from the Lake Michigan area to compete for $3000 in prizes at the Heritage Center in St. Joseph, Michigan next Friday night.
About 30 models will be wearing the work of 18 student designers from top schools in Illinois and Michigan ( Central Michigan University, Dominican University, Illinois Institute of Art, International Academy of Deisgn & Technology and Western Michigan University) gliding down the runway in the main ballroom of the Heritage Center. Inspiration for the living art works includes geishas, insects, nursery rhymes and costume balls. On-air radio personality (98.3, The Coast) Robin Van Dyke will host the show again this year.
Once again Shore Magazine is co-sponsoring the event along with founding sponsor the Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council and Executive Director Millicent Huminsky. In addition to the beautiful downtown venue at the Heritage Museum, ticketholders will enjoy the outstanding cuisine of Executive Chef Ryan Thornburg from the Bistro on the Boulevard, outstanding chocolates from Kilwin's and the skills of the talented stylists at Reva Salon. Harbortown Interiors, home to the most delightful and unique artifacts, furniture and accessories in the Lake Michigan area, has stepped up to support the emerging student artists.
Admission to Fashion on the Shore is $25 and the doors open for the event at 5 p.m. The guest reception follows beginning at 5:30 and the Runway Fashion Event starts at 7 p.m. (All times Eastern Standard.) Seating is limited and tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Amy Zapal at 269-983-1191;
