Chef Jean Joho's Everest was one of four Chicago restaurants to earn the AAA Five Diamond award for 2013---the others are Alinea, Arun's and Tru. The four---there were five but Charlie Trotter's closed last year---have held the highest-rated title for at least seven years and keeps Chicago in a second-place tie with Las Vegas in North America. (New York has the most Five Diamond winners, including two newbies this year, Eleven Madison Park and Le Bernardin.) Congratulations Chef Joho!
The next generation of Mondavi's will be in town in a couple of weeks to launch some new family brands including Emblem, Isabel Mondavi Wines, and M by Michael Mondavi. The winery honors the Mondavi family’s longstanding commitment to selecting the finest vineyards, protecting the environment, and hand-crafting wines of exceptional varietal character and balance. The new Mondavis can be found at downtown restaurants including Untitled, City Winery, Trump Tower/Sixteen, Alpana Singh's The Boarding House, Naha, Piccolo Sogno, Baume & Brix, Pump Room, Sienna Tavern and others.
