Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival begins mid-day Saturday at Weko Beach; GR is extending the August Restaurant week to 12 days and July is national hot-dog month.
Coming Saturday the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival: Hard to believe that such an iconic event as the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival at Weko Beach is only celebrating its 9th year, but as Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council Diva Millicent Huminsky has frequently said, the event was a resounding success from the very beginning. The centerpiece of the Saturday Weko Beach party is the wine-tasting (samples and single glasses) of many locally-grown-and-produced varietals. Small wonder over 4,000 guests are expected to attend this weekend. Tasting tickets are $1: One ticket gets a sample and 5-7 tickets purchases a glass. There is also local cuisine available and a complete musical line-up including blues, pop/rock, rhythm(and blues) and (hopefully) a dazzling sunset. The festival begins at 1pm and ends at 10pm (ET). Live music includes: PS Dump Your Boyfriend (8:15pm); Lady Sunshine & the X Band (6:15pm); Duke Tumatoe (4:15pm); Slim Gypsy Baggage (2:45pm); Top Secret Band (1pm). Price of admission to the festival is $15 and includes a souvenir wine-tasting glass and children under 12 are free. Advance admission tickets are $10 and available at www.ticketweb.com and Hardings Friendly Market at 3651 Shawnee Road in Bridgman.
