Milller Bakery Cafe Quietly Re-Opens: The re-opening of Miller Bakery Cafe, under the auspices of new owners Diana Twyman, Jack Strode and well-known Harbor Country Chef Cheryl Bernacchi, is officially underway. Though Diana and Jack have been quietly throwing Friday afternoon soirees for the dozens of regulars who have been gathering place-less ever since Miller Bakery closed years ago. Last night was the soft opening for dinner, Fridays@Four will resume tonight and the restaurant will be open tonight and tomorrow from 5-10pm and Sunday from 4-8pm. Bentwood Tavern Calls It a Taproom Takeover: Kalamazoo’s acclaimed regional craft brewer, Bell’s Brewery, kicks off beach season with a tap takeover at Bentwood Tavern set to begin next Thursday, May 9. Bell’s will occupy all eight taps at the bar featuring some of their most popular beers, as well as an impressive selection of small batch brews with very limited availability. “We are really excited, and honored really, to be able to offer Bell’s Black Note Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout during the tap takeover. On many reviewers’ top ten lists and even more beer geeks’ wish lists, this beer is rarely available outside Bell’s exclusive events,” says Bentwood Beverage Director Cody Allee. Other notables include Bell’s 2011 Cherry Stout and Bourbon Barrel Aged Batch 9000 Ale, among others great picks.
Week1: Representatives from Bell’s will work the room during dinner hours, chatting up beer fans with plenty of Bell’s swag on offer. Everyone who attends may participate in a “Bell’s Beach Getaway” raffle that includes a one-night stay at Marina Grand Resort and everything you need for a day at the beach.
Week 2: Bentwood’s Burger & Beer Special will include a half pound all-natural Angus burger and handcut fries with any Bell’s beer on tap for only $12. The tap takeover will conclude with Bentwood’s final Sushi Thursday event of the season.
Throughout the week, Chefs Jenny Drilon and Alberto Ilescas will prepare paired dinner features to complement the stellar assortment of Bell’s brews. Tasting flights will also be available.
