Executive Chef Gary Sanders is officially opening his deck at Bartlett’s this Sunday with a decadent but enticing offer of a bucket of iced oysters or a pound of steamed peel-and-eat-shrimp, shucker, gloves and a bib, for $25 ticket in advance. I have seldom eaten at Bartlett’s without ordering fresh oysters because they are almost always available and delivered daily.
I have had oysters-to-go from Bartlett’s, or maybe I just dreamed that I had them. Oysterfest on the deck also includes a condiment table with hot sauce, horseradish and cocktail sauce. The outdoor deck bar will be standing by with special cocktails and a new beer list, even wine that works with shellfish. Oysterfest is family-friendly event ---I’m sure the smaller Sanders’ who are about 3 and 8 now will participate--- so you can plan on kid-friendly menu food that day as well. There will be live music by Johnny V and “the guys from Mr. Blotto,” all day long.
The café on the beach in Marquette Park is open early for coffee, bagels and cream cheese with hot dogs, chips, snacks and other beach food available later. This is a big temptation for me every single good weather day and I will cave soon, I know it.
