The Spring 2014 Guide to Wine and Beer: Check out the map and the many stops for wine, craft beer and spirits along the Lake Michigan Shore, just in time for Spring.Other Choice Tidbits: Greenbush is expanding and hoping to add a beer garden to their very popular craft brewery in Sawyer, Michigan. Griffith's Central Park market kicks off its second season on May 2nd it runs through October 10th with the exception of three Fridays when the park will be occupied by Park Full of Art, NWI Symphony, and Boys Scout Fall Festival.

As Kathy Ruesken wrote to me in an email earlier this week, “The original plan was to develop a farmer's market that reflected what most markets in the area had to offer. But early in the planning stage we realized that it was not going to happen simply because we could not find a farmer who would commit to a Friday afternoon market. They are so busy on Fridays preparing for the Saturday morning markets that take place all over the Chicago-land. So we changed directions and set out to create a weekly festival that celebrates all the great things that the region has to offer; food, music, art and crafted wares. We added in the wines and crafted beers and voila, something special began to evolve.

The first season was a tremendous success even though the weather on most Fridays was less than good. The Town of Griffith embraced it and supported it wholeheartedly. Word got out early on and continues to spread throughout the region and we expect this event to grow bigger and better each season. The Market is open from 3pm to 8pm and the music starts at 6pm and continues to 9pm. The location is 600 N Broad St. in Griffith.”
