Ivy Tech's annual springtime event came this year in the form of The Golden Age of Radio, at Aberdeen Manor in Valparaiso. This celebration during Ivy Tech's 50th anniversary year boasted 250 people in attendance and net proceeds of over $35,000 that will benefit program enhancements at the Ivy Tech campuses in Gary, East Chicago, Michigan City and Valparaiso. Entertainment featured an acting troupe lead by Kurt Gillins and friends that performed 1940's radio show skits of song, dance and a quiz show. Special local celebrity talent included, Senator Ed Charbonneau, David Lain, Porter County Sheriff Mike Brickner, Valpo Chief of Police, Karen Freeman-Wilson, Mayor City of Gary and Bill Masterson Jr., Publisher The Times Media Company. Unique auction items included an overnight with all the trimmings at the Aberdeen Inn, original artwork by Rocco Shiralli and a shadow box framed spent bullet shot from the John Dillinger gun.
