Daddy and his little sweetheart(s) will enjoy this special Valentine’s Day date. The evening includes dinner, dancing, fun and music. Photographs and carnations may be purchased at an additional fee. Recommended for ages 5 and older.

This special night features dinner, dancing and a visit from the South Side Baseball Mascot.

FEB. 9 | Home-School Art Fair Open House, 10-11 a.m., Valparaiso Public Library’s Youth Services Room, 103 E Jefferson St., Valparaiso. pcpls.lib.in.us.

The talents of the fine artists in the local home-school community will be on display during this open house. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served. Also, Feb 9-21: Home-School Art Fair.

Youths of all skill levels are invited to paint a valentine for their special someone with the help of an instructor.

FEB. 10 | Valentine’s Day Mother/Son Bowling, 3-5 p.m., Stardust Bowl III, 1330 Sheffield Ave., Dyer. activenwi.com.

Moms and sons can enjoy an afternoon of bowling, pizza, door prizes and other surprises. “Couples” can enjoy two games of bowling where Mom bowls one frame and the son the next. Prizes will be awarded for the highest and second highest score, as well as the lowest for age groups 9 and younger and 10 and older. Recommended for children 5 and older.

In the days surrounding Valentine’s Day, Ballaboo’s will be decorating and preparing for the big event. On Valentine’s Day, children and their parents are invited to celebrate with poetry, love songs, heart art, sweet treats and games.

Teens can enjoy crafts, snacks and plenty of snark during this anti-Valentine’s Day party.

FEB. 16 | Winter Arts and Crafts Fair, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Munster High School, 8808 Columbia Ave., Munster. 219-836-6923.

One-of-a-kind homemade treasures created by fine artists and crafters will be on sale during this fair. Items include candles, wood crafts, crocheted items, ceramics, soaps and lotions, florals, jewelry, art, photography, glassware and clothing for adults, children and pets. Concessions also will be available.

FEB. 25 | Playdough Pizazz Family Fun, 6:30-6:45 p.m., Lake County Public Library Cedar Lake Branch’s Meeting Room, 10010 W 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake. 219-374-7121. lcplin.org.

All are invited to make and sculpt a variety of playdough, including some delicious edible ones.

Children ages 1 through 3 years old and their grown-ups are invited to join Bellaboo’s and Music of Oz for this music class. The weekly class focuses on developing the natural musical abilities of children through fun with songs, instruments, creative props and movement.
