Northwest Indiana is in a unique spot — the best of both worlds. Full of bustling communities small and large mixed with the rural landscape of farms and a long stretch of Lake Michigan coastline. It's also just a stone’s throw from one of the most visited and wildly fun cities in the world that offers culture, art, food, shoreline and lots of fun for families. As you look ahead to summer days, be sure to work in some time in Chicago.
“There are very few cities that can provide families with a combination of attractions, museums and entertainment in the heart of a major urban environment surrounded by public spaces and parks — all within walking distance,” said David Whitaker, president and CEO of Choose Chicago. “With a constant change in programming throughout the year, there’s a new experience for our visitors every week in Chicago.”
The city also is very accessible by train, making it even more convenient to plan a day trip to the city. Even if you have spent plenty of time in the city, there’s always more to see, more to do, more to eat. And it’s always fun to put on your tourist hat and do a tour. Here are three suggested day trip itineraries, each giving a different perspective of the Windy City.
