Moscow Ballet announces 2 open auditions for Chicago area dance students to perform side-by-side with the Russian company in the Great Russian Nutcracker. The first open auditions is Fri, Aug 23 at Dance Quest, 14511 Van Dyke Road, Plainfield, IL 60544. For details call 815.609.6360 or email info@dancequestdance.com. The second audition is Tue, Aug 27 from 4:30pm at SPACE, 3433 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago, IL 60659. For details call 773.463.1220 or email info@southportarts.com. Student dancers must be ages 7 to 16 years, no taller than 5’ and must have at least one year of ballet training. They will perform roles such as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Angels, and more in the Great Russian Nutcracker on Sunday, Dec 8, 3:00pm at the Rosemont Theatre in north Chicago. The experience of working and performing with professional ballerinas is often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring dancers. Former Somerville NJ Gotta Dance student Hillary-Marie Michael, now director of Jersey Tap Fest, says, “From start to finish … it is an excellent way for dancers to understand both the discipline and fun involved in a professional ballet production.” Moscow Ballet “Dance with Us” Audition Director Carolina Siscanu will work one-on-one with the selected student dancers October 17 to 20 refining and polishing their work. Register today at www.nutcracker.com/dance-with-us/auditions.
