It’s a fixture of the Region. Everywhere you turn is the familiar logo of The Times Best of the Region — in newspaper ads, on billboards and especially walking into your favorite establishments.

It’s become the recognized symbol of the Region’s best and most trusted businesses — those that have consistently proven themselves for providing the best experiences and value to loyal customers.

The reason for this is simple. Rather than relying on the opinions of a few judges or voters, Best of the Region awards are determined by the people of Northwest Indiana through The Times' annual balloting process.

Voting for this year’s selection process kicks off Sunday, and we hope to set new records.

Last year, we saw a record of 237,312 votes cast, more than 104,000 more votes than the previous year.

As a new resident of the Region three years ago, I found many gems through The Times’ Best of the Region guide.

It had just been published, and the winners, based on readers’ votes, were standouts.

It’s never easy winning a category in Best of the Region, but it’s great recognition and visibility every year.

Voting for 2018 Best of the Region begins today in eight main categories and more than 120 subcategories.

The main categories are beauty and wellness, education and instruction, entertainment, food and dining, health care, living, services and shopping.

Register your votes at until March 31.

Looking ahead, a special section featuring the winners will be published May 20.

Good luck!
