2017 Letters to the editor stock

I support the bipartisan bill proposed by U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin.

DACA recipients are exactly what this country needs. In the very near future, as the tsunami of baby boomers retire and begin to use services, we will need more skilled workers: nurses, rehab therapists, doctors, etc. We also will need more general workers.

Where are these workers? DACA folks are a perfect resource pool — no criminal record, inspired by purpose and working or already in school.

Throwing out this pool of talent would be incredibly shortsighted. I cared for both my parents and my mother-in-law.

I have a master's degree in occupational therapy and have worked with the elderly for years. Exhausting and stressful, the care of our elderly is a responsibility I have never shirked. U.S. Sens. Todd Young and Joe Donnelly must not shirk their responsibilities.

Stand up for the future of our society and DACA youth. Stand for our country.
