2017 Letters to the editor stock

I have to take issue with a statement made by Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech, in The Times Saturday article regarding the nursing profession.

The statement made was regarding a shortage of nurses in NWI, and Ellspermann said "she may have to ask the state to ease the requirements for training nurses."

Are you kidding me? If every profession kept "easing their requirements," which to me is the same as lowering their standards, it will get to a point where there will be no need for any schooling of any kind. Any lay person would be able to join the medical profession.

We need for the medical fields to have higher standards.
