2017 Letters to the editor stock

Congratulations to the Lake Central High School student body for the wonderful gesture in voting their classmates, Joy Wosniak and Kyle Kujawa, as homecoming queen and king.

I'm sure these two students with Down syndrome have been so excited and so proud to represent their high school with this special honor, and I can imagine their parents are even more proud.

So many times students with special needs don't get recognized for their contributions to their schools and to society, but this time their Lake Central fellow students gave them their due.

The school system should be proud of their student body — but even more so, the parents of those students who voted for these two as queen and king should be especially proud of their children.
