Letters to the editor stock

I grew up in Chicago and got "street smart" at an early age, learning to always be alert and watchful. I recently returned from a trip to New York City where I visited the 9/11 museum.

The pain of that attack is still palpable at the site, and we will never forget what happened there. I commend President Donald Trump for strengthening our military and wanting to protect our borders.

America is becoming "street smart," and I feel safer because of these actions.

President Theodore Roosevelt said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." These words are still true today.

We must be vigilant and ready to do what must be done to protect our freedoms and the American way of life.
