2017 Letters to the editor stock

We have lived in Crown Point the past 24 years and have loved the quaint little town with very few problems — until Pettibone became a throughway. The drunk drivers running rampant and the drag racing in front of my home near Pettibone and Mary Street needs to be monitored closer.

Recently, we had several visitors who were all legally parked in front of our house and hit by an intoxicated driver. As a result, one car was totaled, the other has extensive damage. Five years prior, my brand new car was parked in the same location and hit by another intoxicated driver.

Though we live in the middle of Crown Point, there is a lack of lighting on a portion of the street in front of my home. Since I purchased this home in 1997, I have felt it is not safe to walk in this dim area and that a simple solution would be additional street lamps.

Throughout the years, I have notified the city multiple times in regard to the lack of sufficient lighting, but there have been no actions in response.

All I ask is that something be done in regards to this pressing matter.

Kerry Jasek, Crown Point
