The Jan. 19 column by U.S. Rep. Luke Messer, accusing the Democrats for a broken U. S. Senate, is a thinly veiled attack on Sen. Joe Donnelly.
The Senate is broken, but it's broken because the Republicans do not want to pass legislation favored by the majority of voters. This legislation includes Medicare for all; immigration reform, giving DACA and others a legal path to permanent residency; and a tax reform that does not favor the rich.
President Donald Trump did not win a majority of the nation's votes, and many Republicans got elected because they had enough money to dupe the voters into believing that they'd represent the interests of the majority.
