Most of us have been touched in some way by the disease of breast cancer.
Perhaps you've survived or are fighting the affliction. If not, chances are high you've seen a friend or loved one go through treatment.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we want to hear about your stories of struggle and survival.
What's your message for others fighting the disease?
The American Cancer Society's estimates more than 250,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in U.S. women in 2017 and that more than 40,000 women will die from the disease this year.
We want to share Region stories of this struggle. Please write about your experiences in letters to the editor of 150 words or less. Include your full name, city/town of residence and a phone number where we can contact you to verify the letters, which can be emailed to email@example.com or mailed to Letters to the Editor, 601 45th Ave., Munster, IN 46321.
Deadline for all breast cancer letters is Oct. 2 to publish in upcoming editions of The Times.
