I read with great interest the April 12 article titled, “Jury awards $16.5 million to motorist injured on Ind. 49 by trucker messaging ...”
Having worked internationally most of my career and recently retired, I have taken three major road trips in the past few months, in excess of 14,000 miles.
Previous to this, I have had great respect for cross country truck drivers, but the number of trucks I saw daily, weaving out of their lanes was totally unacceptable. Of course, this is a problem with car drivers as well, but something must be done to restrict access to phones while vehicles, particularly 18-wheelers, are on the move.
