The new Franciscan St. Anthony Health Chesterton Health and Emergency Center is now open
The new Franciscan St. Anthony Health Chesterton Health and Emergency Center is now open.
A free-standing, 24/7 Emergency Department is the cornerstone of the new center, which also includes an onsite laboratory, CT, X-ray and ultrasound, along with primary care and specialty physician suites. There also is a community room for educational events. The Emergency Department is staffed around-the-clock with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and an experienced certified RN staff.
Unlike many hospital emergency departments, a free-standing emergency center tends to offer shorter wait times, with expedited lab and imaging services.
"This new center allows patients to be evaluated, diagnosed, treated and released in a timely manner. Anyone who requires admission to the hospital will be transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health by an onsite ambulance service," said Dr. Jim Callaghan, hospital president. "The focus is on customer satisfaction."
The center was specially designed with several state-of-the-art features including LEED-certification. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system that provides third-party verification that a building or a community was designed and built using strategies intended to improve performance in such areas as energy savings, water efficiency, carbon monoxide emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
The Chesterton Health and Emergency Center is located at 770 Indian Boundary Road in Chesterton. For more information, visit FranciscanStAnthony.org and choose our Michigan City location.
