MACOMB, ILL. – Crown Point High School senior Sara Kish, of Cedar Lake, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.
High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.
Kish plans to major in psychology, and said she chose Western because of its "variety of majors, helpful and supportive faculty and the many opportunities for scholarships."
"I selected Western due to the amazing opportunity they have provided for me – not only with the Centennial Honors Scholarship, but also the chance to be a member of the Honors College and the popularity of the school's psychology program," Kish said.
At Western, Kish said she hopes to participate in Greek life by joining a sorority as well as participating in choir and an intramural running club.
In high school, Kish was a member of her high school's choir and cross country team. She was also a volunteer tutor for students at her former elementary school.
After graduation from Western, Kish said her goal is to work alongside counselors or in an investigative office. She would also like to eventually attend graduate school.
