Main Gary Public Library closes its doors
A sign Wednesday in the lobby of the main Gary Public Library lets patrons know that items no longer can be checked out. The building will stay open for returns until Monday. After that, it will be closed during a $2 million project to convert it to a museum and cultural center.

Assistant director set to retire from Westchester museum and library
Jane Walsh-Brown will retire at the end of this year after 36 years with the Westchester Public Library in Chesterton. She is the library's assistant director as well as the curator for the Westchester Township History Museum. Walsh-Brown said she will continue to volunteer to help the museum.
