Christel House Academy
INDIANAPOLIS | Twenty-two Northwest Indiana schools received higher state-issued grades for the 2011-12 school year after the former head of the Indiana Department of Education adjusted the grading system when a favored charter school initially earned a C.
After Associated Press reporter Tom LoBianco's story about Tony Bennett’s manipulation of the A-F school grading system concerning Christel House Academy and another 12 charter schools, school accountability measures enacted during the past four years came under scrutiny.
I guess Tony Bennett is asking us to feel sorry for him.
The Tony Bennett grade-changing scandal has the nation's education community talking excitedly about how Indiana's former superintendent of public instruction handled school accountability.
Tony Bennett did some good work when he was Indiana's superintendent of public instruction. But it's becoming apparent he did some really embarrassing things, too.
Some local educators and politicians said they are not surprised former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett may have manipulated the A-F school grading formula developed by his office in favor of charter schools.
