GARY | A CSX freight train derailed Monday morning in Gary, closing crossings near 9th Avenue from Chase to Madison streets, police said.

About 35 cars in a 104-car Canadian National freight train derailed early Saturday near the Broadway entrance to U.S. Steel. Some of the cars were carrying hazardous waste, but no leaks or spills were reported.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP | The derailment of as many as 60 train cars shut down Old Suman Road just south of U.S. 6 in Porter County. No one was injured in the derailment, Porter County police Lt. Chris Eckert said.
