Homeless count to take place Wednesday in Lake County

Continuum of Care Network of NWI will conduct a street count of homeless individuals in Lake County on Wednesday as part of the 2013 Point-In-Time Count coordinated by Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the state housing finance agency, and the Local Regional Planning Council.

I am writing this letter because I have tried to contact the mayor of East Chicago about an issue prevalent in all of our communities —family homelessness. Currently in East Chicago, The Salvation Army is the only facility that assists with temporary shelter for homeless individuals.
