Joan Grott is the Extension Educator of Porter County 4-H.
When you think of 4-H, do you think of farm kids, cows and cooking? Though 4-H has its roots in agriculture dating back to the early 1900s, today’s 4-H program has so much more to offer!
Q: Why did you choose to be the extension educator of Porter County 4-H?
Gretchen Kohler is not a typical 4-Her.
When considering a current hot topic in agriculture that I could address in this column, I only needed to look at what my fellow "aggies" were posting about on their Facebook pages.
It's not a stereotype if it's true, right? Well, the truth is that many of us in the agricultural sector are fair junkies. All year we look forward to fair season; some of us, perhaps, with more excited anticipation than a kid waiting for Christmas morning!
If you ever had an economics class, the phrase "supply and demand" might sound familiar to you, but when you're pacing the aisles of the grocery store, do you ever think back to those days when you were sitting in your econ class doodling in your notebook?
