Local group receives grant to fund alt-fuel vehicle study
MERRILLVILLE | South Shore Clean Cities is among a consortium of alternative-fuel groups from Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin awarded a $764,266 grant aimed at overcoming barriers to expanding alt-fuel vehicles in the Great Lakes.

Clean Cities is a U.S. Department of Energy partnership with industry designed to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector. It advances the use of alternative fuels and vehicles, idle reduction technologies, hybrid electric vehicles, fuel blends and fuel economy.
