In three Northwest Indiana school districts, there are tax referendums on the ballot today. The future of your schools and property values, as well as your property tax bills, is at stake.
There are separate extenuating circumstances, but the core problem faced by the Munster, Union Township and Boone Township school districts is a failure of the state government to adequately fund the operation of local schools.
I live in Boone Township. I believe my property taxes are already high, with the largest share of the property tax bill going to the school.
