The Hammond Fire Department will host its annual Fire Prevention Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Central Fire Station on Calumet Avenue. Fire station tours, DJ music, a Moon Walk and many raffles will be included.

I hope everyone enjoyed Hammond's kick off to the holiday season with our Hammond Holiday Parade. What great weather and such a great turn out.
The weather may be nudging some folks to stay indoors, but there is plenty to do in the city of Hammond this month.
Join the Hammond Fire Department for an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Central Fire Station, 6110 Calumet Ave. Lots of different activities are planned for children as all ages learn about fire safety. Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 7 to 13.
As our summer season comes to a close, I look back and think of Hammond’s great summer events and how much fun we had at the 2012 Festival of the Lakes, our inaugural Triple Play Concert Series, the inaugural WHAM midnight bike ride, and all the fun events at the Pavilion at Wolf Lake.
Hammond starts August off with a WHAM, the Whiting/Hammond After Midnight bike ride that will be Saturday. Enjoy a fun, relaxing 25-mile ride through Hammond and Whiting, celebrating many of the two communities’ new bike paths.
