INDIANAPOLIS | State Rep. Vernon Smith, D-Gary, joined a coalition of Hoosier education groups Thursday urging the State Board of Education to reconsider its plan to create a new teacher license that requires no teacher training prior to entering the classroom.
INDIANAPOLIS | The State Board of Education agreed Wednesday to create a “career specialist” teaching permit, enabling Hoosiers with three years full-time work experience, but no education training, to become high school teachers in the subject they worked in.
As students finish up their studies in the coming weeks, schools will evaluate the results of year-end testing to see if improvements were made during this academic year. More than ever, these results are used to access the effectiveness of curricula and the teachers who deliver them.
