TINLEY PARK | Newly elected U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., said Monday she sees the proposed airport near Peotone and Illiana Expressway as projects to create economic benefits -- and she wants those benefits stay in the area.
Despite the talk of how little the Legislature accomplished in its spring session, local officials praised a bill to boost chances of a Chicago-area airport for rural Will County.
JOLIET | A Will County judge on Friday scheduled a hearing for January to begin proceedings in the case of a rural family that wants to fight the state government's attempt to take their land by eminent domain to build an airport near Peotone.
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is again promoting the proposed Peotone airport. He wants the Illinois General Assembly to appropriate another $71 million to forcefully take land from unwilling farmers and homeowners for an airport that is years from FAA approval and will probably never be built.
