GUEST COMMENTARY: Treat ballast water to protect Great Lakes

Since the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959, the Great Lakes have become an avenue for overseas shipping. One consequence is that in bringing cargo to Indiana from halfway around the world, ships unintentionally bring living organisms from those ports.
